Easter Nor'easter

Diego You have offspring. An unexpected notification from my genealogy report led me to dig up an ugly history, to seek out throwback girls from a regrettable past. The search turned up Eden Mahlalela, the best friend to one of those throwbacks and my son’s most dedicated advocate. Her advocacy infuriated me. Her interference about how I should raise my kid annoyed me. But being new to being a dad, I let her in and she helped me. Soon she intrigued me, then befriended me, then hurt me, then broke me, and I could hardly believe that she could be so cold as to leave me…leave me free falling in love.

Eden – I only wanted to keep a promise to my roommate that I’d take care of her little boy until she got back on her feet. I held him first, a minute after he was born. I fed him, bathed him, and cared for him as if I had birthed him. Things were fine until his absentee dad surfaced, filing for custody out of nowhere and demanding parental rights. My roommate had warned me about Diego Diaz, that he was a workaholic, an alcoholic, and an unfriendly man. But the person I encountered had more of a propensity to protect, a proclivity to provide, and an inclination to love real hard.
